These days happened to be the biggest feast for the wristwatch world. I am so upset that I can’t keep you updated with the most exciting new models released at the Baselworld 2010. Now I am going to fill in the gap by offering you some old news at Baselworld. If you happen to miss the event, then here is a selected replay.

The first watches I am eager to share with you are the Bell & Ross Vintage BR Carbon Series Watches – the Vintage BR 123 Carbon and the Chronograph BR 126.

The no-frilled watches feature the classic Bell & Ross Vintage design: round-shaped, slim watch hands, slender leather strap. But these two watches are even more simple than the Bell & Ross Vintage 123 watch we mentioned in the previous post.

I am especially fascinated about its two-tone watch hands. The ochreous and black watch hands matches with the black dial and ochreous markers perfectly. The sharp contrast and simple design make the watch exceptionally legible.

Both watches are incorporated in a 41mm casing. The case is made of something called glass bead blasted stainless steel with vacuum carbon black finishes. I don’t know what it is exactly. But who cares? The watches just look great and that’s enough.

These two Bell & Ross Vintage watches are designed to pay homage to the military, in particular the pilots of the 1940s who were the first professionals to use the wristwatch as a tool to assist them in carrying out their missions. Simple, functional and timeless, these two watches can easily hit a man’s heart. I guess the Vintage replica Bell & Ross watches will be hot this year.

The Vintage 123 shows a very different Bell & Ross style from the BR 01 series. Maybe both the BR01 and Vintage 123 can be described as simple, clear and nor no-frill watches, but the latter features much more elegance and aesthetics.

In my opinion, the elegance and aesthetics of Bell & Ross Vintage 123 mainly comes from the satin-finish case in stainless steel and the slim watch face. The Vintage 123 does not bear the fat square frame outside the round case and its hour and minute hands are slimmer, which gives more room for the dial and make it look better. Besides, the strap of Vintage 123 is of normal size while the BR 01 series feature wide rubber straps, which again makes BR 01 look more sturdy but less elegant.

Maybe because I have traditional mind, I think the Bell & Ross Vintage 123 meet the standard of my ideal watch better with its understated casual look and minimalistic, classic style. Of course, some BR 01 fans may argue that the Vintage 123 looks too traditional and too gentle to be a military watch. I agree with that, too. As a matter of fact, I think Bell & Ross fans should really buy at least one BR Vintage watch and one BR 01 watch to better experience the beauty of Bell & Ross watches. However, that may pose some financial constraint on most watch fans as Bell & Ross watches are not cheap.
